We partner with people of faith and good will to meet the needs of refugee families resettling in NJ. There are many ways to serve.
Build A Restart Kit
Restart Kits are bins of new household items provided to newly arriving families to help them set up their homes. It's a great way to involve your family, friends, coworkers, classmates or community group. Purchase new items. Pack them in a clear plastic bin with a lid. Label the bin with the Kit name. Include an unsealed, hand written note welcoming the family. Larger items that don't fit inside can be included separately. Deliver the bin to PAC.

Volunteers undergo a specific orientation and complete background check and confidentiality agreements in order to serve in ways that require direct contact with the refugee. These are things like delivering groceries to their home, providing a ride to an appointment, teaching them to drive, tutoring, teaching English, etc. Let us know if you're interested in taking this step.

• Join the moving team. From warehouse pickup to apartment drop off, a strong team of volunteers transport love in a box truck in the form of furniture.

Agency Partnerships
There are ten agencies approved by the US State Department to facilitate refugee resettlement in America. You can find three of those agencies in NJ including USCRI’s affiliate office Interfaith-RISE (I-RISE) in Highland Park. For many years, PAC volunteers, alongside others from local faith and civic groups, have assisted refugees received by I-RISE integrate into their own communities through mutual relationship building, the exchange of cultures, teaching life skills, and assisting the case management staff providing core services. Simply said, these volunteers know what to do, where to go, and how to do the most basic everyday tasks which seem very foreign and overwhelming to their new neighbors. Volunteers provide encouragement and a helping hand. This is where we grew in our love for refugees.
Alliance for Refugees (AFR) is a resettlement agency approved by the US Federal Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. It is birthed out of a collaborative partnership between PAC and World Relief. AFR will open on October 1st as the NJ affiliate office of World Relief and will receive assigned families directly. AFR will be an alliance of various individuals and organizations (including PAC!) in Mercer & Middlesex County seeking to welcome and assist new refugee neighbors.
We encourage you to continue supporting I-RISE as they resettle families throughout NJ. Pray with us for the launch of AFR this fall. We will be developing Good Neighbor Teams to help AFR welcome refugees as valued, thriving, contributing members of our community and to assist them with essential foundational needs as they experience freedom, healing, and peace.
